My dogs

I hadn't painted anything in a couple of years. A painting seems like such a big production compared to drawing. But that canvas had been calling out to me.. So, I approached it like a drawing and kept it monochromatic.

I had taken some pictures of the pooches outside in the arch of a building. It had started to rain, so I thought this was as a good a time as any to take some pics. With the outside light and the shadow of the arch, I was able to get almost a window lighting effect -still not the light through the eyes effect I crave..

I uploaded the images to my computer and used photoshop to create a layout that I thought had some balance and sensitivity. I printed out the picture and tried to have some fun without it being too mechanical. I'm such a big fan of photography -hopefully the painting isn't too realistic and has some artistic value :-)

The result is a 48"x24" acrylic painting on canvas.
