Bio

I was born in New York City to Cuban Immigrants. My father, Carlos Senior, was from Matanzas, Cuba. My mother, Gladys, was a cosmetologist from Guanajay, Cuba, and the daughter of Francisco Velasco, a political prisoner that eventually became like a father to me. My 'two' fathers were profoundly complicated men, filled with apparent contradictions. Their spirits live and war within me, and have caused me to ask many questions. I write and create art, sometimes simply to search for answers.

I live in Sunrise, Florida with my wife, Jean. In August 2012, I became a grandfather.
