This is the part I really enjoy -most of the drawing is done and I'm not concerned with proportion or likeness anymore. I'm just having fun rendering denim.

The stitching is done by digging into the paper first with a hard pencil (6H) and then going over with a softer lead (2B).

After a couple of evenings...

This is the great granddaughter of someone from my church group. I hope to surprise her [grandma] with this pencil portrait by Sunday.
